False Adages
No Pain, No Gain: Of all the false,pig-headed adages, This should be near the top of the list.
Last year a dear friend had knee surgery, and it was almost healed, and no pain, then an ardent physical therapist took over; in one session he undid all the healing she’d had thus far.
This morning I was reminded again, when I woke up with a very painful knee;
In my zeal to get stronger after a stroke, I decided I wouldn’t sit down after a short trip with the walker, until ID done 20 tippy-toes and ten monisquats-- squats which-are much harder-especially on the knees- And then I raised it to... 40 squats, and paid the price this morning..for my prior willingness to endure slowly increasing bouts of pain.
